About the event
The time has come to grab you garden forks and your sturdiest pair of work
gloves and join the battle against the spiky little suckers!
Spear thistles spread very quickly via their seed and once they reach a certain
number can cause serious problems in pasture land.
That’s where you come in, helping us to keep them under control without the
use of harmful sprays. Chemicals which we have been happily avoiding on the
farm for the last thirty-five years.
But don’t worry if you, like James, are a secret admirer of the ‘flower of
Scotland’ with its wonderful nectar and attractive purple flower. No matter
how many we manage to pull up, in an organic system there will always be the
ones that got away!
We will meet a Manor Farm, at 10am and lunch will once again be served in
the house at 1pm, with an optional afternoon stint for the keenest!
We really enjoyed our last volunteer day and can’t wait to see as many of you
as are able to come.
