One roast, five meals

Here at North Aston Farms we're big fans of a Sunday roast. Our beef is slowly raised on pasture and slowly roasting a beef joint is one of the best ways to enjoy it.

But a roast can feel a bit overwhelming, or overly luxurious for some (particularly smaller households). Here's how to make your roast last all week.

First, choose a big joint: we have a great selection from premium Picanha joints to our most affordable Rolled Brisket, with a very tasty Silverside, Top Rump and Topside somewhere in the middle. You'll save on effort and energy costs by cooking the meat through in one go rather than heating up the oven multiple times in the week - you could buy two small ones and further save on cooking time!

Sunday. Roast beef & all the trimmings

Prepare plenty of potatoes, vegetables and extras like yorkshire pudding. This makes the meat go further! Carve up in the kitchen and make sure to leave plenty for the rest of the week.

Monday. Fajitas.

Cut up a few slices of roast beef into strips. Fry some onions with plenty of spices, add some of your favourite veg, then add the beef strips last just to heat through. Wrap them up and enjoy (no one will notice they're eating beef again).

Tuesday. Beef sandwiches.

Use plenty of mustard, mayonnaise or exotic sauce of choice (sriracha anyone?), and some really good bread.

Wednesday. Stir Fry.

Fry up plenty of vegetables in a wok if you have one. Add sauce - soy sauce and orange juice is a brilliant no-fuss option - and beef strips. Serve with rice or noodles.

Thursday. Curry.

Whack all the remaining beef, in chunks, into a curry of your choosing. Go gentle and creamy with a korma or try something new with Sri Lankan flavours. If you have wraps left over from Monday you could even fry those into a dry and spicy kotthu.

Friday. Fish?

There's no beef left! Enjoy a meat-free day or opt for a traditional fish dinner...

What size joint should I get?

When serving a traditional roast, we usually share these guidelines for size:

  • 1.0-1.3kg • 2-4 people

  • 1.4-1.6kg • 4-6 people

  • 1.7-2.0kg • 6-8 people

It of course depends on how many trimmings you have and how large appetites are! Try doubling what you would usually order to make it last all week.
